Greenwood School—A different way of teaching, for a better way of learning.
At Greenwood School, we recognize that no two students are the same—and neither are their learning styles. That’s why we’re dedicated to providing a challenging and supportive learning environment for average to above-average middle through high school students who struggle with reading disabilities, need ADHD support, or have other learning differences.
As one of the premier schools in Jacksonville, Greenwood offers ADHD support, dyslexia resources, and a full curriculum for students with learning differences and difficulties.
Academic accommodations are tailored to meet students’ learning styles—and to lead them from concrete skills to critical and abstract thinking.
Greenwood School’s academics are enriched by a humanities department that includes Mixed Media Art, Band, Chorus, Ballroom Dancing and physical education. In addition, opportunities for technology instruction and implementation are available in the classrooms, the computer lab, and in the library/media center. Unlike other schools in Jacksonville, Greenwood School gives students a unique opportunity to learn in the style that suits them best: auditory, visual or hands-on. What’s more, every classroom at Greenwood School offers laptop computers for in-room student use. Teachers and students benefit from a sophisticated network of media technology available in the classrooms and media center.
A setting that suits learning
Greenwood School’s Jacksonville campus is designed to enhance every aspect of learning, creating an enriching environment for students with learning differences. In addition to learning environments for the core curriculum, Greenwood School houses a computer lab, a library/media center, an art room, a music room, and a full-size gymnasium.
A rarity among schools in Jacksonville, Greenwood School is home to a remarkable natural environment. Ten acres of protected wetlands provide a backyard science lab, with an outdoor classroom, that presents students with the opportunity to interact with nature up-close and in person.
Greenwood School, founded in 1985, is fully accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools.
