Greenwood School Annual Fund

Dear Greenwood families & friends,

It’s that time of year again. Time to kick off the fundraising campaign that is critical to raising much needed dollars for the Greenwood School Annual Fund. The Fund, as you are no doubt aware, supports all areas of our school and helps us to provide students with the resources they need to flourish and grow academically, socially and emotionally.

We thank the many donors to last year’s campaign, whose generous contributions to the Fund raised close to $60,000. Those important dollars have been put to good use: enhancing many of our teacher/student-focused projects; strengthening and reinforcing our curriculum and providing a host of opportunities for staff professional development. Monies raised are also being used to complete critical upgrades to our campus facilities, such as new lockers.

This year our Annual Fund focuses on the theme “Arts in the Curriculum.”

Art is defined as “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination.” Indeed, at Greenwood, it is inspiring to see how art comes to life across subject areas each and every day. We encourage students to put their imagination and creativity to work in everything that they do, and we continually stand ready to help them in any way we can.

Likewise, we continue to present all of our students with one-of-a-kind opportunities to get involved in more traditional art forms -- such as the recent morning in which students were treated to vocal and dance workshops led by actors from the hit musical “Hamilton,” to our recent Wetlands inspired art competition.

We are bursting with innovative ideas to help nurture our students’ creative instincts. This year, with the help of your generous donations, we know we can make it happen. Together, we can provide students with the opportunity to express their creativity in all subject areas and to take part in a number of exciting extra-curricular activities.

Student Voice:
“My mom and I went walking through the Wetlands and I saw the bridge. Greenwood to me represents hard work and finding your own success. Greenwood helps all of us cross that bridge to success. Greenwood shows love, care, and compassion for all.”
Devon Smith, 10th grade

Teacher Voice:
"I’ve never been more proud here at Greenwood. I got my boys in class who have never worked with makeup before all of sudden say “this is something I would do for the rest of my life.” To watch these students light up when making new connections and friends is worth more than gold. The look on their face when they anxiously wait for my reaction to their design is priceless."
Kaleb Sims, High School and Middle School Performing Arts

Parent Voice:
"My son immediately felt at home at Greenwood. Socially and academically, he has grown and thrived here. These are our people! We have found acceptance and an extension of our family here. I have had the great fortune to personally witness the daily acts of kindness, support and empathy that the students show each other here. I have seen and heard a thousand stories over the years, students going above and beyond to help others, many which make my heart swell with hope and pride in our school. I have become an avid ambassador for Greenwood, sharing that hope with as many families as possible."
