A Welcome from Mr. James

James FamilyThe 2016-17 school year marks the 31st year of Greenwood school as an institution, the 16th year of Greenwood on her own campus, the 11th year since I started at the school, and my first year as Head of school. In that time hundreds of students have come to see their own value and worth as members of a larger society, where they can contribute and confidently explore countless opportunities. I have been rewarded a thousand times over by these students by simply being a part of their lives and as a member of the Greenwood family. At the same time I have seen my own family begin and grow. As the Head of School I seek to continue the mission of Greenwood and support the daily efforts of every staff and faculty member as well as those of every student and their family. I’d like to welcome the new families who are starting this fall at Greenwood and I am confident that our existing students will extend this welcome to all of you.

I know 2016-17 will be a wonderful year full of new experiences and opportunities including new enrichment classes and new and expanded after school clubs and activities. Some new initiatives will include an expanded Environmental Education Program and more exposure to postsecondary educational opportunities. However, this year and those to come will only be as rich and rewarding as they can be for our students if we all; faculty, staff, students, families, and community, work together. I encourage all of us to hold ourselves and our students accountable for the quality of their work. Also, never shy away from challenging each other while working toward the goal of enriching our students’ lives with an education that will give them the skills and confidence they will need to take advantage of every opportunity that may present itself now and in the years ahead.

Sincerely,

Mr. Emlyn James
