Constructing the Brick Pathway

This week Greenwood School’s Courtyard Project really started to take shape – literally we are talking “bricks and mortar”. The Courtyard Project kicked off in August with the brick paver sale. According to Julie Blair, who is managing the project, sales exceeded the goal and a total of 86 bricks were sold to fund the brick paver portion of the project. The brick walk construction started this week and already looks absolutely amazing. Personalized bricks include encouragements, remembrances and inspirations and these brick inscriptions add an intimate feel to the space.

Ms. Blair also reports that a generous grant by the law firm Holland & Knight is funding construction for the stage portion of the project and is almost complete. The stage portion of the project is key in that it will expand the current use of the courtyard area to allow for student performances, school wide events as well as individual class activities.  The final phase of the Courtyard Project will include installing enhancements such as benches, shade coverings and landscape plantings and will be funded by future brick sales in January. A dedication ceremony is planned for Grandparents Day on November 24. Stay tuned for details.
